03 / USE CASES
Two kinds of link.
Value link
One property drives another. Position, scale, rotation, opacity, anchor point or any effect parameter. Use one axis (X, Y, Z or magnitude), or map every axis onto its partner, X to X and Y to Y.
Distance link
Distance between two layers drives a property. Measured in world space, so it stays correct for 2D, 3D and parented layers. Move a null closer and the ring grows.

Every link Property Linker creates is a standard After Effects expression. Your render farm, your client and your future self can open the project without it installed.

REQUIREMENTS
Do I need to know expressions?
No. You pick layers and type four numbers. The panel writes the expression. If you do know expressions, you'll recognise what it wrote and can edit it by hand.
What happens if I open the project on a machine without the plugin?
It opens and renders normally. Links are plain After Effects expressions, not a custom effect, so nothing breaks and nothing needs installing.
Does it work with 3D and parented layers?
Yes. Distance links are measured in world space, which is what keeps them correct when layers are 3D or parented.
Which versions of After Effects are supported?
After Effects 2025 and newer.
Is it a subscription?
No. You pay once, and every 1.x update is free.
How do I install it?
Install the free ZXP Installer from aescripts, drag in the .zxp file, restart After Effects, and open Window › Extensions › Property Linker. Paste your licence key and click Activate.
What if something doesn't work?
Reply to your receipt email. It reaches the person who wrote the plugin, not a ticket queue.
